Subject:
Help with wood identification? *PIC*

Roger Smith
>Tree was downed in a storm in North Alabama. The tree came off a small creek bank growing in mostly clayily type soil. The bark looks something like Magnolia. Small trees resembles Beech. The leaves look more like Elm. The wood looks like Magnolia in both the rings and with the occassional dark strips need the pith. The wood is soft and somewhat dry like Magnolia.

The land owner identified it as Elm. It is not Elm

thanks,
roger
