Turning Archive 2007
>Someone dropped a couple of logs off and neither of us knew what it was. He described the leaves as squat heart shaped without the point (not fan like Ginko) and said he recalled some sort of white flowers in the spring. When fresh cut, the heart wood is greenish brown, but turns reddish as it dries. The bark is grayish outside with red just underneath the first layer. No identifiable smell to me. I have looked and looked on the net and can't find anything like it or with the leaves and flowers he described.
