ANTIPATHY!

>ANTIPATHY!

This piece of Norway Maple that was really infested with carpenter ants was part of a load I scrounged last summer. The piece has some really wild grain patterns and is part of a crotch. The ants had a big nest in it and I decided to leave a part of it in the finished piece. So I made a couple of ants from the scraps, turned them on 3 centers and applied a stipple coat with a mix of vegetable black and lacquer. Legs are 12 gauge copper wire. The ants are 5"long and the vessel is 9.5" x 7"
