Tonight's Chat: Bandsaw Setup and Modifications

Steve Russell
>Hello to the group,

Please join us tonight for our weekly Turning Chat. This week our topic will be:

Bandsaw Setups and Modifications For Woodturners: Ok, you've got a bandsaw (or maybe you're thinking about getting one) but you really want to make that puppy sing for processing your woodturning blanks. How can you setup your bandsaw to make processing green wood easier? What cutting jigs are useful? What's the easiest way to keep your bandsaw table from rusting and keep your blade clean?

What types of bands offer the best performance - Silicon Steel, Bi-metal, or Carbide? How many teeth per inch? What works best and cuts the best with green (wet) wood? Do you need to lubricate your band during cutting? Don't forget the guides… Some work much better than others on green wood! Join us as we discuss setting up and modifying your bandsaw to make it work more efficiently when cutting green wood logs and blanks.

We will start the chat with a 15 minute review of 2 selected works by our WC friends.
If you are interested in having your work reviewed at the turning chat, remember to email Ron 1 or 2 (max.) photos of some of your recent work (completed or unfinished, in process etc.) for our "Show and Tell" session. Please indicate whether you are submitting the photos as "Completed Work" for a critique, or as an "Assistance Needed" submission that you would like some type of help, or assistance with.

Turning Chat room opens at 9:00pm EDT (For meet and greet)
Show-N-Tell starts at 9:30pm EDT
Main Topic starts at 9:45pm EDT
Post Chat Wrap-Up starts at 10:30pm EDT (For extended discussions if desired)

See you there!
