Help with wood identification

>I have just turned a hollow form out of a piece of wood I found locally (SE Michigan). The wood is close grained and fairly uniform in texture, light colored (yellowish-maple), soft and light (think linden), and stinks like piss elm--but even when dry.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
