Subject:
Technique for Drying a large Platter??

Andy DiPietro
>In PIC2 of my posting below “Gloating – Walnut Slabs Etc.” I have a large walnut crotch which should yield an 18” platter blank when I turn it. It is 2” thick right now.

1. Is it better to turn it round and thin it to 1.5” thick and wax seal it? This would dry faster.
2. Or Trim it on the band saw and seal it. Then turn it when it dries? This would leave more material for warpage.

Suggestions please.

Thanks again
