Old Lathe Tools

Roy Girolami
>i recently acquired an old lathe and a box of tools that came with it. There were a lot of tools made out of old files and a bunch of Buck Bros tools. Now I have a question about the Buck Bros tools. Almost all the tools had a single bevel, like a woodworking chisel, most of them tapered in thickness from the handle to the edge and they were all longer than I'm used to seeing. To give you an example, there were several chisels that were no more than 3/16" wide that had blades about 7" long. What do you suppose they were meant for? I have no idea of the vintage of the tools, but the lathe was 80 years old.
