Oil Lamp - Spalted Birch (timely) *PIC*

>I got the burner parts before coming home from Georgia and finally got around to making the base!
No sooner had I finished it that I had to put it to use when the power went out in a wind storm. It worked great and is going to be very useful.
The original plan was for atmosphere lighting in the 5th wheel trailer so I will have to do another?
The base is approx. 6"high and major diameter is 5"
Finish is multiple coats of Minwax Satin poly , final coat applied with 0000 steel wool and then buffed out before drying with soft cloth while spinning on the lathe. I am happy with the result.
Now that I am "turning" out some useful items I am really getting more keen on this retirement pastime.
Comments and or critiques always welcome!
Thanks for looking,
Regards,
Wayne
