Subject:
Calif. Buckeye Vessel *PIC*

Bill Clark
>This is another piece in my California Buckeye series. This vessel is 7 ¼” in diameter and 4 ¾ “ tall. The entry hole is 1 5/8”. The piece has a “disappearing” base and sits on a 1 ¾” turned flat spot on the bottom. The walls are 3/16” thick. It is finished with 2 coats of shellac to seal the soft wood, then 3 coats of satin MinWax Wipe-On Poly. The vessel is also sanded and finished on the inside. The blank for this piece was taken from a much larger Buckeye root ball. It’s been very interesting watching the differences in figure and color display themselves as each piece is turned. It’s like opening a series of surprise packages and not knowing what to expect inside.
