Half Pipe?

>The other day I was turning a piece and at the time I was using a small gouge. I took it into a tight place but was trying to get a little sheer. It occurred to me that a bowl gouge, cut in half lengthwise might be interesting. Has anyone tried that? Dumb idea?

I guess you would need two of them for each direction of work. Well anyway, it was just a crazy thought at the moment.
