3520 A /B difference

>I was playing around with the minimum speed (rpm) on a 3520 B model, and it would shut off at around 50 rpm. I was thinking that my old A model would go slower. Today, I was playing around with mine, and it would go down to 20 rpm or even a little less. What's it good for??? Well, some of my bowls are pretty warped, and on the bigger ones if I want to sand while the lathe is turning, it would be better for that, but I don't know what else.
