Turning sycamore

Doug Thompson near Cleveland
>Today I couldn't stand it and went back to Joe's woodpile. They just delivered some fresh sycamore so a few blanks jumped into the truck before I knew it.

Now, don't laugh to hard... What in the heck is it! How does it turn green, any problems with drying (cracking), does it finish well.

Maple is by far my favorite wood to turn but this is the right diameter and easy pickings. Besides the last hat turned was for the WC exchange and I need pratice to give some demos this summer and fall. It will take about 6 or so hats to regain the skill to knock them out in 2-1/2, 3 hours like before.

Any thoughts about sycamore on the lathe... Thanks
