Subject:
Finish over Pyrography?

Dominic Greco in Richboro PA
>Quick one here. I have a cherry platter that features a scorched/burned band about 3/8" wide (the rim frames the platter). Since I used the small ball tip pen to make divets and do the burning, it's pretty even and black.

I was going to use Watco's Danish Oil as the finish but just realized that this may cause the "black" from the scorched area to run.

Is there a chance that will happen? If so, whats the best way to stop this? Seal with shellac? Sanding Sealer? Spray lacquer?

Thanks,

Dominic
