Subject:
Curly box elder ginger jar... *PIC*

Mike Stafford
>I have been cleaning out my scrap bin and other niches with pieces of wood I could not figure out how to use. I have had this piece of box elder for a few years now and I had forgotten it had so much curl. In this picture I think you will agree the curl shows up pretty well but in real life it has a lot more curl than my picture shows. I did not do the typical ginger jar lid shape and the lid fits snugly like one of my box lids would. I had a heck of a time sanding the interior as my fingers are short and the opening is small. I ended up using forceps and split dowels with pieces of sandpaper inserted so I could use it like a flap sander on the inside. This box/jar is 4 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter.
