Thrift shop find--whadya think? *PIC*

Ken Grunke from SW WI
>I go to thrift stores once in a while looking for neat things that might work in a turning project. First thing I do is head for the housewares/kitchen shelves, looking for pepper mills that I can rob the mechanism from but I've had very little luck finding a good one.
I did score these candle sconces at a St. Vinnie's for 50 cents each. Being just a plain ol' country boy, I'm not sure how these were originally used. Would it be tacky to make beautiful wood bases for these and sell them in a gallery? They are in like-new condition, and I would clean them up and add new candles. Honest opinions needed.
