Turning true

>I tend to use fairly good equipment like my Powermatic 3520A and Vicmarc chucks. Yet I nearly always notice what looks like very slight out-of -true wobbles --even on small diameter stuff. I set up a micrometer gauge to measure any runout at the spindle, and it appears acceptable at around 2 thousandth inch. I was watching Lacer's Son of Skew video yesterday, and I could see the same thing right on the video. BUT ... not long ago I had a chance to turn on a little Jet mini lathe, and it ran so true that I thought it was not even on!

Somewhat puzzled in Maryland.
