Turning and finishing mulberry

>Afternoon everybody.

I got a couple of pieces of 'standing' mulberry from a neighbour (he didn't like it poking holes in his roof when it came down in a storm). Any advice since I've never worked it before? It's still very green so I want to rough turn a few things. Do I need to leave it thicker or anything like that? Can I turn it while green to finished size or will it crack on me? Anyone got a favourite finish for it? It's got spectacular colour while wet (kinda like oasge orange) so I am thinking of oil and wax.

Thanks for your help,
