Subject:
Jammed Quill in Tailstock

Jorge Castaneda
>Hello turners, my lathe is a Nova 3000,
Yesterday I was attempting to make a bunch of handles for my gouges, after finishing boring the first one, the quill is jammed, cannot make it turn taping it with a rubber mallet, not even with sharp raps.

I managed to get a small cylinder under the tihghtening screw, that fits into a keyway,( the cylinder is the key) now it can make a half turn if the keyway is facing down, 180 opposite from where it needs to be, if the keyway is where it shoud, the quill is jammed. I left word with Tim Geist, but no answer.
Anybody had this problem before?, how was it solved?
Thanks in advance

Jorge
