Subject:
Filling cracks in cherry??

Bill MacLachlan
>Interesting suggestions listed below on filling a crack in walnut. What would you suggest for cherry? I have been playing with turning a few small ~6" bowls, some NE and some not. I have finished sanding and applied 1 coat of BLO on the one in question. Was this a good idea or should it be done pre-finish?
I was given some small pouches of colored sand from Woodchuckers and after reading the post below, was thinking of trying the a red sand. Would this sand be as fine as coffee grounds? How small of a grind is the coffee? Do you want it course salt-like or almost a powder? (this coming from a non-coffee drinker!)
Thanks, Bill
