Subject:
can I slow down the warping?

Steve Kubien
>Hi folks,

Today I was having a go at some wet ash, making a NE bowl/vase/thingie. When I started hollowing it out, all was well. By the time I got done the rim had warped so much that final finishing cuts resulted in one side being slightly thicker than the other. How do I avoid this in the future?

I should point out that I am working on a 1/2hp mini lathe so I cannot really hog out a ton of waste very quickly. Slow and steady for this newbie.

Thanks,
Steve Kubien
P.S. I'll try to post a picture later tonight. Other than the funky rim, I'm really happy with how it came out.
