Turning Archive 2007
>I came home today to find a package at my door. I felt like a kid at Christmas. I ripped the package open to find a nice letter from Doug Leite - aka the Hawaii Turner. He explained that the hollow form enclosed is was turned from Koa wood that he harvested at 5300 ft on Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii. The collar is from a Kona Coffee tree. Then I opened the packaging around the turning. This is a beautiful form and wonderful wood - it gives me inspiration to turn better. Sorry, my picture does not do it justice - I did not have any photo booth setup and just put it in front of a white sheet on my kitchen counter. My new goal for this year is to turn a hollow form half as nice as Doug sent me. Thanks so much Doug. It will take a prominent place on my shelving to inspire me every day. Mahalo Doug.
