Turning Archive 2007
>This is my first box in lacewood. I don't think lacewood is the best wood for boxes. Normally I would orient the grain like I did in this box and turn it end grain wise. But turning it this way, over half of the box does not show any of the rays that lacewood is loved for. I do like the way the rays show up on the end grain. Sort of a splintery wood and did not want to hold the best detail, at least for me. This box submitted for your comments is 2 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter. Finished with an oil/varnish mixture and polished.
