Turning Archive 2007
Ken Grunke from SW WI
>My exchange piece is going south, and was shipped two days ago so it ought to be there by tomorrow. I'll be away from home until late tomorrow so I figure I should post a pic and a little note about my piece, which was actually posted here previously and turned in April '06.
This little mini-vessel, of Box Elder, has a spiral-carved rim treatment done with a machinist's knurling wheel fixed to a piece of keystock for a handle. I did the knurling while the piece was still a tad oversize, then did some detail turning above and below the knurling.
I'll put the link to the original post in the archives after the pic.
This is one of those pieces I didn't feel like selling because I liked to pick it up once in a while and gaze at it. But I figure giving it to a fellow turner made pretty good sense. ;)
