>This is my exchange piece, which I have named Eyebowl. It's headed East and will be mailed Tuesday morning. It is made from spalted persimmon. The eye, which is a bit of the bark that stayed on the curve of the rim, reminds me of an Egyptian eye, thus the name.
As many may have noticed from previous work, I really like curved, almost round sides on bowls with the rim rolling to the inside. The diameter of Eyebowl is 6 1/2" and it is 2 3/8" tall, including the base. The walls are a bit under 1/4" thick. The finish is five coats of Waterlox followed by a buffing with tripoli and carnuba wax.
