>I received your exchange gift yesterday. It is a very lovely natural edge bowl. I'm sure that it is not Oak like you previously thought. There are no open pores or meduliary (SP.?) rays typical of oak. The wood is not ring porous, Oak Is. The grain is as tight as maple or box elder, but itís not either of those. The color of the heartwood is throwing me off. Iíve seen hickory that color but the open pores arenít there. No matter it is a fine bowl and Iíll find a nice place in my home to display it. Thanks
