Turning Archive 2007

>The Box Elder growing in my neighborhood seems to be lacking the bright red coloring for some reason, must be the soil. It does get some nice spalting after laying on the ground for a while, but this particular piece is very pale and featureless. A good candidate for some type of surface decoration, but I'm not yet set up for any of the techniques such as dyes, burning, or color markers.
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of Spring and fresh flowers to put in this vase.
Turned with the pith right on center, and drilled for a 5/8" glass tube whose top opening is about halfway up the vase's height.
Minwax wipe-on poly finish, 9 1/2" tall, 4 1/4" across the rim at it's widest. Any comments are welcome.
