Does spalted wood dry faster?

>I've roughed out a couple of blanks from a log that was on the verge of rot. it's spalted nearly all over, and the blanks seem to be drying faster than usual. is it common for spalted wood to dry faster, or is it that they have already lost substantial moisture from sitting in log form? I don't think itis the latter as they were pretty wet while turning. Does the spalting change the wood cells in a way that lets them lose moisture faster.
