Subject:
spalted wood

Bill McWhirter
>This may sound like a dumb question, but I am new to turning and have started collecting hunks of wood. Most of the stuff that I have found with significant spalting also has significant rot.

If I have a sound piece of wood, is there any "quick" way to get it to spalt without rotting? How long should it take? I live in South Georgia so both the humidity and the temperature are generally high and fungi and mold thrive.
