Subject:
Dust Collector Muffler *LINK*

Brian McKearney
>This is slightly off the topic of turning, but I do use my dust collector while power sanding my bowls. Yesterday, I received a copy of Penn State's catalog and noticed that they carry a "Dust Collector Muffler" that claims to reduce noise by 5-10db (up to 50%).

First question - is this a gimmick or will it really work?

Second question - Anyone know of any plans for how to make one myself? I think I've seen plans for shop vac mufflers, but can't remember where - I would imagine that this would just be an overgrown version of that?

Thoughts and suggestions?

Brian
