*** SURVEY: THE IDES OF JANUARY *** *LINK*

>Well folks, it's time again to trot out yet another intriguing woodworking-related question for your comments, which will then be digested for our bi-monthly "News & Views" column in the West Coast journal, Woodworker West magazine.

This time around, I'd like to investigate a couple things every one of us has in common: 1) the fact that at some point we became interested in woodworking; and 2) at some point along the way, we had one or several experiences that influenced the nature and direction of our woodworking interests.

So, my Ides survey question this time has two parts: What was it that first sparked your interest in working with wood and tools? And, what were the defining influences or meetings or inspirations that pushed you in your current woodworking direction?

Have at it, folks. We'll harvest your replies in a week or so. Thanks for participating!

Cheers,
Ellis Walentine, Host
