Subject:
Cherry Auction Bowl PICS

Mike Rubes, Apex, NC
>Hi all,

I have a friend at work who's daughter is a very good runner in her 9th grade agegroup. Good enough that she qualified for a team that is going to Austrailia in the Spring to race and train. Even with qualification, she needs to generate some money to pay the way. So, she and her dad are doing some fund raisers and asked if I would donate a bowl for them to auction off. This is what I came up with. I thought about something with a "running" theme, but they actually said since they were targetting non runners as well that something more generic might work better :)

It is cherry with inlaid lapis lazuli and chrysacolla stone. It is about 9 inches across and 3 inches high. I think the shape turned out really well and the stone works seems ok with it. I worry a little about how the lapis (darker stone) will look as the cherry darkens, but I think it will be ok.

Thanks for taking a look. Finish is Tried and True varnish then buffed with the Beall System.

Comments and critiques are always welcome.

Mike
