Subject:
Anyone turned Sweet Gum wood?

Allen Neighbors
>Today, a friend gave me the trunk and a few large limbs of a Sweet Gum tree (Liquidambar Styraciflua). The largest pieces are about 24" in diameter; the smallest about 14". 18-20 feet of it.
Due to trouble with my chainsaw, I only blanked out 5 large bowl blanks from a couple of pieces today. Tomorrow's another day. :o(
Some of it has some reddish/pinkish tint to it. Should I turn it or burn it? Other than 'round and 'round, how does it turn?
