Subject:
cure for warped bowls?

Keith Tompkins
>I formerly worked in a shop that made continuous-bow windsor chairs. The ash bows were steamed, then bent around a form, then secured with a wood strip tacked to the ends. When dry, the strip is removed, the bows remained bent.

I've been messing with a similar concept on bowls... I'be been tacking a strip across the top of the bowls to prevent them from distorting. So far, so good. I've only done a few but no failures, esp. the cherry bowls which are prone to quite a bit of movement. I've lost some cherry pieces in the past due to too much out-of-round. May be worth a try in your shop...
