Subject:
Madrone burl box.... *PIC*

Mike Stafford
>I had some time over the holidays and decided to turn this piece of Madrone burl I have been drying for at least 3 years. I have previously turned pens and made some lid inserts for jewelry boxes from the same material but this is my first turning of any size from this wood. Had no particular problems but as I was hollowing the body of the box several large voids made themselves known and they gave me a start as I feared the whole bottom was going to be a large void....Anyway it finished up at 3" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter. Comments and criticisms appreciated....
