comments please: Sorby "slicer" blade

>I don't have a "bowl saver" system yet, but, for starters, I like the idea of using a straight "slicer" tool (such as the Sorby) for saving some mirror frames off the backs of bowl blanks -- beats turning it into mulch.
I checked the Archives and couldn't find any info.
I'd like to hear from some of you who have actually used this tool.
How practical is it?
How catchy is it?
I have a Don Pencil Scorpion, so I would expect to use that handle/arm brace (assuming it fits). Is that a (good/bad) idea?
How hard to use is it?
Does it produce good results?
Is it useful or a waste of time?
