DUNK!! A gentle reminder

>Just doing the responsible thing here, relaying a safety story.

I had a piece of ash loaded up between centers last night. Checked multiple times to make sure it was solidly in place, then fired up. All was well until the spindle gouge grabbed a little more wood than intended on a corner. As it turns out, a catch of quality beats a well-driven live center.

Then it took to flight. I caught the blur of something airborne, had a repeating mental warning firing off in my head "Something bad! Something bad! Something bad!" then a zillionth of a second later heard "DUNK!" on top of my head. It actually hit the strapping just over the forehead of my faceshield and I think took a bit of a glance off the forehead part as well. It was 100% equipment that absorbed the blow, and 0% me. All DUNK, no THUD.

So - in order to make sure you have a Merry Christmas as you finish up that last minute "chopping" -

Tis the season to make shavings
fa la la la la, la la la la
But we need to practice safety
fa la la la la, la la la la
Don we now enearing faceshields
fa la la, la la la, la la la
No one wants a dent for Christmas
fa la la la la, la la la la
