Beal buffing too fast?

eliot d
>I used to do do Beal buffing on the lathe, where I could control the speed, but I got tired of mounting the stuff; so I recently dug out an old (cheap) wheel grinding setup, removed the wheels and guards, and attached two of the Beal buffing wheels to it. -- one for tripoli and one for the white diamond compound. So I have a dedicated Beal buffing station ( at least for the first two steps.). But now it runs at 3500 RPM! It seems to work just fine, but it sure does zip along! Did I do something that could present a dangerous situation? I did fasten it down very securely.
