Tool Handles

In last months FWW Bob Smashler makes tool handles for chisels... Where does he get the leather washers for the striking end? Is there a site that shows how to make them? The article doesn't talk about how to attach and shape the washers...

The second question is around turning tools... I want to add some weight to homemade bowl gouge handles...lead shot (buck shot) seems like the best choice, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any suggestions on where I can buy it?

Thanks much.
