>These are my favorite tools to turn ornament finials and other small things. The bottom one is a Harbour freight Windsor brand miniature rough out gouge. I got a set of 3 tools for $5. A 1/2" skew, 1/16" parting tool and the 1/2" roughing gouge. The skew and gouge are excellent tools. They hold an edge as good as my Sorby. The parting tool is junk.

The second one is a Sorby miniature roughing gouge. It has the same flute shape as thier bigger continental gouge so I ground the edge similar to what the continental gouge has. This is my go to tool for anything small.

The top one is a homemade skew made from a 3/8" spade bit. I have lots of other skews but this is my favorite.
