Subject:
How many use a foot switch for turning?

Ryan Dicker in Renfrew, Ontario
>I was just wondering the other day how many people use a foot activated switch to control the power to their lathe. I have been using one since I started turning, (about 3 years) and find that I stop the work to look at what I am actually doing to the wood more often. Generally this helps learning cutting techniques by comparing the quality of the cut.

From a safety standpoint, I feel much more in control of the lathe by not having to reach for the switch should something happen.

I wouldn't want to be without one...
