Turning Archive 2006
>As I read the thread earlier on the new Jet 1224 I thought about the new General International 12" mini lathe that has a pivoting headstock, why? It wouldn't be my choice for a mini lathe option.
A few weeks back I was demoing at an area store and spoke with one of the owners of Steel City Tools and he slipped that there is a 20" to 24" swing lathe that they'll be bringing out in 2007. Their mini is pretty impressive. Thought to be a direct counterpart to the Powermatic.
Speaking of Rikon Woodfast's mini lathe, has anyone turned on the new larger lathe they're bring out. I think its a 20" swing. Compared to the original Woodfast lathe?
Definately there are alot more options in alot more price ranges for lathes. With more of the lathes being 12" I wonder if the 1224 by Oneway will have the same outcome as the 1018 and be discontinued?
