turning acrylic acetate pens

>Me again,

The blurb I got with my acrylic acetate blanks suggested choosing around 900 to 1200 rpm. Does this sound right to you? Things seemed to go easier at a higher speed (3200rpm) but since I didn't know if I was likely to damage the material, I slowed it back down. Took a fair while to sand it to a nice surface prior to polishing and waxing. I am new to this round stuff and not quite confident enough to let my instincts take over yet. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks again,
Steve Kubien
