>There is an article in American Woodturner by Phil Brennion on making a turned salt box. In the article he shows a flute down cut. This has confused many people. I hope these photos show the cut. It is a very safe cut for cleaning up endgrain. It is a bevel rubbing cut, not a shear scrape. give it a try. The start of the cut can be a little tricky but once it gets started and the bevel is rubbing it's very controllable.
