New Nova lathe (Nova 1624-44)

>I was looking at the Woodcraft site today and found that they have a new lathe from Teknatool - the Nova 1624-44. It has a 16" swing, 8 speeds from 214 to 3600 rpm, a 1.5 hp motor, and a swivel head. best of all, it's $999. The length of the bed is short -- only 24", but there's an extension that will increase the length of the bed to 44", for a total of $1198.

For comparison, there's a Jet 16x42 lathe that gives you variable speed from 0-3200 rpm, and cast iron legs, but this runs $1799. Or $2099 - it looks like it's listed twice.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this lathe? It looks like a really good value.
