Sharpening Turning tools

>Hello Everyone

Friend of mine recently sold me his Jet mini lathe and another friend gave me some Shopsmith turning tools

I have a Delta 8" grinder with a 60 grit wheel. Wheel is good for shaping but the edge off it leaves substantial tearout on maple burled wood.

Made a tool rest I am very happy with and my budget is small. What is the best bang for the buck to get a serviceable edge on turning tools? Can I get away with my 60 grit wheel and some sandpaper stuck to MDF sticks (ala scary sharp) or do I need to get another wheel like a 120 grit?

Cheers
