Kerosene stove problem

Carole Valentine
>I just had my stove drained, dried and a new wick installed and filled my jug with fresh kero. Stove worked fine last night. Today something is not right...it smokes when it is first lit and the flame is very low and erratic even though the wick is turned all the way up. Could there be water in the kero I just bought? If so, is there anyway to get rid of it? I hate to throw away a 5 gal. jug of kero (and don't know where to throw it anyway!) I used the additive (basically a scented alcohol I think) in it as I always have before. Will water permanently contaminate the new wick or will it eventually straighten itself out? Any advice?
