Subject:
Has anybody used polymer clay for pen blanks?

Scott Hurley in N. VA
>My wife works with polymer clay, and she has tried to make some pen blanks for me. They seem to turn nicely, but I'm having a lot of problems with chipout between the layers of clay. Is there a trick that I'm not aware of? I'm using my Jet Mini at high speed and a very light touch with a spindle roughing gouge. Should I be doing something differently? Speed? A different gouge?

Also, what should I use to finish them? Would CA glue be a good finish? How about just wax?

Thanks.

Scott
