Subject:
Buckeye vase

>Here is the buckeye vase I started at the Five-Barns Picnic, finally finished. I took Barbara Gill's recommendation and used Velvit Products Aqua-Shield water-based poly on it, and I am very pleased with the results. This product dries almost as fast as lacquer, yet it wipes on nicely without streaks. The first coat raises fuzz, but it sands quickly without clogging the sandpaper. Best of all, it is water white, so it saturates the dark parts and leaves the light parts unchanged. Can't wait to try it on spalted maple.

Cheers,
Ellis
