Turning Archive 2006
>This is the first time I have turned a box from Wenge. Interesting wood in that I found it to be hard and splintery which caused problems when cutting the flanges. Once I figured out how to do that without splintering (used a skew) then it was just a matter of turning wood that produced dust like it was a piece of coal. The box finished up at 2 1/4" in diameter and 2 3/8" tall.
Oh, it was hard to photograph as well. Not my favorite turning wood by any means but I have more than 4 feet of box stock left.
