Problem with lathe

Bill Crommett
>Does someone out there in the twist and turn land have any experience with variable speed General 260 lathe ? I have been trying to round off a 12 in hard maple log that is bone dry. This neccesitates moving slowly to keep from bouncing all over the room. Because of the slow RPM I get a few catches and an occasional stall. The usual treatment for a stall is to unplug the cord for a few minutes, sweep up the shavings, plug it back in and GO. The last time it didn't work. The switch clicks and the other outlet on the same circuit is functioning. No motor activity. What do I try next ??
